Family Reading Night
Holy Name Catholic Wellness Committee has planed a Family Reading Night on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 after the 6:30 PM Mass. There will be various reading activities planned that evening.
Teacher Retreat
There will be NO School on Monday, January 19, 2015. The teachers will be on retreat that day.
VIRTUS
There will be a VIRTUS class on Saturday, January 10 at 8:00 AM. The class will be offered in English in the Parish hall and in Spanish in the Library.
Walk in Sisters Shoes
Walk in Sisters Shoes -- From January 6th - March 3, 2015 the students at Holy Name Catholic School will learn more about St. Katharine Drexel. She was a wealthy American who used her family fortune to build missions and schools across the United States. She denied herself many things, so that she could spend everything she had on those less fortunate. A prime example is that she once wore the same pair of shoes for 10 years.

Holy Name Catholic School Spring Semester begins on Monday, January 5 at 7:50 AM. Students will need to bring a sack lunch on January 5 and January 6.

Holy Name Catholic School students will begin the Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena on Thursday, December 4 - December 12th. We will pray the novena each day at 12:20 in the gym.
Night of Prayer
On December 8 and December 9 there will be a Night Prayer from 8:00 PM - Midnight at Holy Name Church.
Immaculate Conception
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, December 8 is a Holy Day of Obligation. All students will attend Mass on Monday, December 8 at 8:15 AM.

National Vocation Awareness Week
National Vocation Awareness Week is an annual week-long
celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to
promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life
through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for
those who are considering one of these particular vocations. Beginning in 2014, National Vocation Awareness Week was moved to the first full week of November (November 2 - 8, 2014).
Saint Reports
Saturday,
November 1st, 2014 is All Saints Day. The students at Holy Name Catholic School
(Kindergarten – 6th grade) will dress up as a saint on Friday, October 31, 2014. Each
student will research a saint during the month of October. Students at Holy Name Catholic School (Kindergarten
– 6th grade) will attend Mass at 8:15 AM. After Mass we will take a picture of our
“saints” here at Holy Name Catholic School. Once the picture has been taken we
will return to the gym and students will give a short presentation about their
saint. After the saint presentations each student will receive a “snack” in the
gym from PTO.
Everyone
is invited to attend the saint presentations after Mass. This is such a
wonderful learning experience for the students. Please come and learn about all
the different saints.
Wellness Activty
Holy Name Catholic School will have its first Wellness Activity on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Weather permitting we will play kickball on the playground. All school families are invited to attend.
Stewardship Fair
Holy Name Parish will have a Stewardship Fair the weekend of October 18 - 19. There will be tables set up in the gym that will represent the different ministries at Holy Name. After each Mass, parishioners can go to the gym to learn about ways they can share their time and talent at Holy Name.

Worldwide Children's Euchaistic Holy Hour
On Friday, October 3, 2014 after the 8:15 AM Mass, teachers, parents, parishioners are invited to gather the children and youth of the world before Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament at Holy Name Church, to spiritually unite our world's children in the 12th annual Worldwide Children's Eucharistic Holy Hour.
Would you please help us to fill the pews at Holy Name, with the Catholic school children gathered before the most tender of all hearts, the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. All of us watch the news and wonder, what can I do to change the world? This is something we can all do. United as one "Body of Christ," we can lift up the humble prayers of our Catholic School Children and all the children of the world t the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as their prayers strengthen the Church Militant, prepare the soil for the New Evangelization, and open the floodgates of mercy upon our broken hearted world.

Teachers will be attending meetings on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Pittsburg. There will be NO school that day.

Pizza Hut Day
Pizza Hut will donate 20% of the total receipts on September 23, 2014 to Holy Name Catholic School. Leave your paid receipts in the jar at Pizza Hut or drop it off at the school office or place in the jar at the church entrance by September 29th.

Preschool Students
Preschool parents will need to meet with Mrs. Gregory for a short orientation.
- 3-day preschool parents will meet on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 8:00 AM in the preschool classroom. First day of class for 3-day preschool will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 7:50 AM - 10:50 AM.
- 2-day preschool parents will meet on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 8:00 AM in the preschool classroom. First day of class for 2-day preschool will be Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 7:50 AM - 10:50 AM.
- Evening orientation will be on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 6:00 PM in the preschool classroom. The evening orientation is an option for parents that are unable to attend the morning session.

Vocation Day
The 6th grade students will travel to Parsons, Kansas on Thursday, February 27, 2014 for Vocation Day. Students will learn all about the different religious vocations.
Living Library
The Leadership Council will have a Living Library on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 9:00 AM in the gym. The Living Library will be about the life of St. Katharine Drexel.
Leadership Council
The Leadership Council will sell rosaries on Friday, February 21st in the gym before school and after the 10:00 AM Mass on Sunday, February 23, 2014. All proceeds will benefit the Drexel Fund.

Science Fair
Holy Name Catholic School will have its first Science Fair on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Students will have their Science projects set up in the gym all day on Tuesday. Presentations will be at 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM and after the PTO Meeting.
