Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is about encouraging the children to make healthy lifestyle choices and teaching them the dangers of drugs.

Monday, October 26 -- Decorate classroom door

Tuesday, October 27 -- "Sock it to Drugs Day" (wear crazy socks to school)

Wednesday, October 28 -- Sign Pledge Banner

Thursday, October 29 -- Wear a red uniform shirt.

Friday, October 30 -- Pray the rosary for those affected by drugs at 2:15 PM in the church.

Thanksgiving Mass -- School Mass

Students at Holy Name Catholic School will bring canned goods to Mass on Friday, November 20th. Food will be donated to the Holy Name Food Pantry.

PTO Meeting

PTO meeting -- Holy Name Catholic School PTO next meeting will be Tuesday, November 17th at 7:00 PM. There will be a guest speaker that evening. Barbara Ames, Family Consumer Science Agent from Wildcat Extension District in Independence will present on "Rate your snack". This is an interactive program and if parents/parishioners have particular packaged snacks they would like to bring to include in the snacks we will be rating, that would be awesome.  We will be reading Nutrition Facts Labels and Ingredients Labels, as well as checking out packaging claims to decide how various snacks and beverages rate. Additionally, we will discuss food groups and how well planned snacks can add a powerful punch to a healthy eating plan. Everyone in the parish is invited to attend.

Pizza Hut Day

Pizza Hut Day -- Enjoy the lunch time buffet, plan to meet friends and family there, take carry-out home or have pizza, pasta and more delivered. Just leave your paid receipt in the jar on the counter by the cash register at Pizza Hut marked for Holy Name Catholic School that day or evening. You can also turn in the receipt to the school office. Pizza Hut will donate to Holy Name Catholic School 20% of the total receipts turned in for November 17, 2015.

Barnes & Noble Bookfair

Barnes & Noble Bookfair -- The Barnes and Noble Bookfair will be on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Barnes & Noble at Bradley Fair, 1920 N. Rock Road from 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM. For every $15, your student/family can select a book for the library at Holy Name Catholic School. A bookplate with the child's name or family name will be placed on the inside cover of the book. You can send a check to the school by October 30 or credit card donations will be accepted at: https://2015catholicschoolbookfair.eventbrite.com. National Young Readers Week

National Young Readers Week -- Since 1989, National Young Readers Week has been an annual event held during the second week of November to raise awareness around the importance of reading. During this week, the students at Holy Name Catholic School will have people from the community/parish come and read a book to each class. National Young Readers Week is November 9 - 13, 2015.

National Vocation Awareness Week

National Vocation Awareness Week -- National Vocation Awareness Week is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. National Vocation Week is November 1 - 7, 2015.

All Saints Presentations

The students at Holy Name Catholic School (Kindergarten – 6th grade) will dress up as a saint on Friday, October 30, 2015. Each student will research a saint during the month of October.  Students at Holy Name Catholic School (Kindergarten – 6th grade) will attend Mass at 8:15 AM. After Mass we will take a picture of our “saints” here at Holy Name Catholic School. Once the picture has been taken we will return to the gym and students will give a short presentation about their saint. Everyone is invited to attend the saint presentations after Mass. This is such a wonderful learning experience for the students. Please come and learn about all the different saints.
